Google I/O 2025 Takeaways & The Future of AI

Read time – 5 minutes

Hey friends, Charles here again. Just back from Google I/O 2025, and my mind is racing with the future of AI. The event showcased Google's big bets in artificial intelligence, from how we chat with devices to how we make videos, search the web, or build the next thing. I was there in person, taking notes, soaking it in. Here's what stuck.

🧠 Takeaways from Google I/O

Google I/O 2025

Here are a few highlights that left a lasting impression:

  • Gemini Live: Real-time voice chat on your phone, like texting a friend, but smarter.
  • Gemini 2.5 Pro & Flash: Lightning fast, context-aware, and clearly production-ready.
  • Veo 3 + Flow: AI can now help you create videos with voice, background audio, and edits all in one go.
  • AI Mode in Search: More human-like summaries, search results explained like a brief from a helpful coworker.
  • Android XR: This isn't just Meta's space anymore. Android XR feels like the bridge between mobile apps and spatial computing. I saw demos that felt like the future of creative tools, not just games.

🛠 Tool I Recommended This Week

Earlier this week, an old colleague from IBM asked me if I knew a tool that could help them generate a fully customized form, more flexible than Google Forms and ideally free. I instantly thought of Fillout.

It's incredibly clean, supports logic, integrations, and even lets you embed beautifully. Great for product feedback, early waitlists, or internal workflows. I've started using it for a couple of test pages and honestly, it feels like the no-code form builder Google would have built if they had focused on forms again.

💡 Quick Thought

As I watched keynote after keynote, one thing clicked: the next wave of products won't be just about features, they'll be about feelings.

The best tools will be the ones that feel invisible, that support what you're already trying to do. Not shouting, not showing off. Just showing up. That's what the best of I/O hinted at.
