Moving Together vs Moving Fast & The Power of Alignment

Read time – 5 minutes

Hey folks, This week reminded me: moving fast is exciting, but moving together? That's where the real impact happens. Here are some reflections from the field, and two upcoming events worth checking out.

🧠 Idea That Stuck With Me

Alignment vs Speed Quote

We often think progress is measured by speed, how quickly we deliver, respond, or adapt. But in my experience, true progress is measured by alignment.

I've seen projects where teams moved fast but in different directions, creating more work to undo than to build. And I've seen others that moved steadily, taking time to ensure everyone understood the "why" before chasing the "how." Those projects almost always achieved better results, with less friction and more trust.

Speed can impress. Alignment can transform. One without the other is like a car with a powerful engine but no steering.

πŸ’¬ Quick Thought

In conversations, whether with clients, colleagues, or even ourselves, there's often an unspoken pressure to fill the silence.

We rush in with answers, as if every pause is a problem. But I've learned that the pause is often where the real work happens.

Years ago, I sat across from a client hesitant to move forward. Instead of pitching harder, I just waited. The silence gave them space, and what emerged was the real concern we needed to solve.

Silence isn't empty. It's a space for reflection, trust, and connection. Try leaving room in your next conversation. You might be surprised what fills it.
